Explanatory note:
FP6:
Integrating and strengthening the European Research Area: Specific Measures in
support of international cooperation (INCO). Call for Proposals 2004
The two main fields
under which research proposals are invited for the INCO 2004 Call are:
(1) Health and public health:
-
Health
care system, policy and management
-
Knowledge
and technologies to improve control of neglected
communicable diseases
(2) Food security:
– Bio-diverse, bio-safe and value added crops.
Under these headings, proposals are invited for specific targeted
research projects (STREPs) and for Coordination Actions (CAs).
STREPS are multi-partner research projects. Their purpose is to support
research and technological development. The Community contribution may range
from hundred of thousands of euros to a few millions of euros.
CAs are multi-partner actions to promote and support the networking and
support of research and innovation activities. This includes the definition,
organisation and management of joint initiatives, activities such as the
organisation of conferences or meetings, the carrying out of studies, exchanges
of personnel, the exchange and dissemination of good practice, setting up
common information systems and expert groups. EU funding is given for the costs
of coordination (not for research) in the form of a grant to the budget of up
to 100% of the budget.
For both STREPs and CAs there must be a minimum of three participants
from three different Member States or Associated States (of which at least 2
from Member States or Associated candidate States), and a minimum three participants
from three different Latin American countries.
